Scarborough Bead

Scarborough is a bustling seaside town facing the North Sea in Yorkshire. It’s divided into two bays, North and South, which are separated by the ruins of the 11th century Scarborough Castle. This piece of Yorkshire coastline has so much to offer from award winning beaches, fabulous family attractions and a Victorian promenade to explore. Offshore clay deposits give the water a brown colour but don’t let that put you off, the surf gets real good here! Both bays have consistent surf with the South being the sheltered option in those northerly storms but the North being the more popular with its fun peaks and sneaky rights in the corner.

Those beautifully vibrant rows of beach huts dotted along the beach on North Bay gave the inspiration for this bead. We started with a clear glass bead which is then carefully decorated with red, orange, yellow, lime and blue dots of glass with smaller white dots separating them. It’s then popped in our tumbler to give a textured frosty look.
